THE MEMPHIS GOLF INITIATIVE

1,000 Kids.
1,000 First Swings.
1,000 Days.

A first swing.
A new world of possibility.

We’re giving 1,000 kids their first swing at golf in 1,000 days. Beginning in Memphis, our goal is to introduce children to a game that can open doors for a lifetime. We bring the game closer to young people in urban communities and connect that first experience to opportunities to learn, develop and keep playing.

WHY THIS MATTERS

The talent is already here.
Access makes the difference.

A child cannot discover a passion for a game they never get the chance to play. An introduction to golf can open a new space to build confidence, form relationships and explore possibilities beyond a familiar neighborhood.

Through the Memphis Golf Initiative, The GOLF Foundation connects youth development with community engagement. This campaign puts a clear goal behind that work: reach 1,000 children and help turn their first introduction into a next step.

INTRODUCING. DEVELOPING. ADVANCING.

The first swing
is a beginning.

We want children to feel welcome in golf, have reasons to return and see where the game can take them. Our campaign pathway connects each stage.

01

Introduce

Bring welcoming golf experiences to schools, parks and community spaces. Help children try the game, learn the basics and meet people who make them feel they belong.

02

Develop

Connect interested participants with continued instruction, equipment access and mentorship. Build golf skills alongside confidence, teamwork and habits that carry into everyday life.

03

Advance

Help young people explore their next step, from regular play and junior competition to college and HBCU pathways. Introduce the people, careers and professional players who show what is possible.

One clear goal.

The campaign goal counts individual children introduced to golf. Continued participation matters too, so our approach to measuring impact also follows return visits and connections to ongoing learning.

THE DETAILS

A goal we can
build around.

Where does the campaign begin?

Memphis is the Foundation’s first HUB. The campaign builds on the Memphis Golf Initiative and its focus on early access, youth development and community connections.

When do the 1,000 days begin?

The campaign calendar is being developed. Connect with us to learn about participation, help host an introduction or support delivery. We will share the start date and upcoming opportunities here as they are confirmed.

Is this a single clinic or event?

The campaign brings together multiple introductions across 1,000 days. Its purpose also includes connecting children who want to continue with instruction, mentorship and playing opportunities.

How will progress be shared?

Our approach to reporting tracks individual children introduced, participating locations and opportunities to return. Repeat attendance will be reported separately so that one child attending several sessions is not counted as several children.

How can parents and caregivers learn more?

Use the Foundation’s inquiry form to express interest or ask about future opportunities. Campaign locations, age groups and registration information will be shared as programming is confirmed.
